Laura and Ben had their amazing wedding reception at the fabulous Beverley Barn in East Yorkshire in August, and I was thrilled to have been chosen as their wedding photographer.  We had a blast!

Photography travels

I love travelling for my job – visiting new places, meeting new people.  Beverley itself is just a short hop over the Pennines for me from Manchester, and the wedding day that developed was a joy to photograph.  I arrived nice and early to find Laura and her bridesmaids in high spirits along with Mum and Dad.  Bubbles and giggles and general chilled out fun times was definitely the order of the day here.  Ben and the boys were also gearing up nicely for the big day ahead.  After an exchange of gifts and the final touches applied, our star couple and their entourages were all ready to head off to Beverley town centre for the main event.

Beverley ceremony

First stop was the beautiful St John of Beverley Catholic Church  – a great example of Victorian Gothic architecture located just outside Beverley’s medieval North Bar gate.  The church itself, with its asymmetrical turret and playful lines, is a stunning building to photograph, and a special place to get married.  Father James, choristers and opera singers completed a truly memorable ceremony for our happy couple.

The bridal party savoured the drive to the Beverley Barn in the luxury of two white vintage Rolls Royce cars – arriving in style…and in a rain storm of epic proportions.  But did that stop our intrepid couple from enjoying their day? Of course not.  As a talented and accomplished actor herself, Laura and Ben’s guests were similarly comprised of gifted performers, including singers and musicians, ready to entertain the crowd as they sheltered in the bar area, awaiting Laura and Ben’s arrival.

BARN WEDDING BLISS

In any case, the sun soon came out and gifted us all with glorious, late-summer light.  Portraits in the golden rays, group shots under the trees, drinks and canapés in the sunshine.  It was all just perfect.  And when the time came to enjoy the wedding breakfast, there was a surprise in store!  Sat amongst beautifully designed boho wedding details, our fun-loving wedding party were treated to fantastic food and superb speeches.  And then, undercover, singing waiters no less! These guys really got the party started and paved the way for an epic evening of Beatles covers, riotous dancing and finally a spectacular sparkler exit.  Phew!  It was a breathless, and thoroughly brilliant day, from start to finish.

The Beverly Barn

The Beverley Barn itself is a relatively new wedding venue that provides personal and bespoke weddings in an exclusive and luxurious converted barn setting.  I love the boho vibes of this beautiful venue, lovingly appointed both inside and out.  And that light!  Oh my! I had some fun with that evening light, streaming through the doors by the top table.  A photographer’s playground!  What’s more,  Yasmin, Phil  and the team make for incredible hosts.  They simply cannot do enough to make sure the day goes perfectly.  And they certainly made me feel extremely welcome too.  Their mission is to provide unforgettable experiences with a personal touch, and boy do they deliver.  I can’t recommend it highly enough!

It was such a pleasure and a privilege to be the wedding photographer for Laura & Ben’s Beverley Barn wedding.  It was an incredible day from start to finish – full of love, joy, fun and laughter.  What a great way to start a marriage – I wish them every happiness together.
